Dawn Blumrich, M.S. C.I.A native of Opelousas, Mrs. Blumrich attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana, receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology in 2001 and receiving a Master of Science degree in Counselor Education from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 2008. While receiving her Master’s, she worked as a Graduate Assistant for the head of the department of Counselor Education and interned as a counselor for Services for Students with Disabilities on campus as well as being the Helping Hands Coordinator for the Hemophilia Federation of America. Dawn was also president of the university’s chapter of Chi Sigma Iota, the counseling Honors organization.

Dawn began her career as School Counselor at Pope John Paul II Academy in Carencro. Her work consisted of teaching social skills and peer relations to grades Kindergarten thru 12th grade. However, much of her focus was on life skills, organization, career preparation and college planning for high school students. In addition, Dawn has provided family, couple, and individual counseling thru the Pax Renewal Center in Lafayette.

Dawn has several populations that she enjoys working with. She currently works with children and adolescent clients dealing with a variety of issues including, but not limited to, anxiety, stress, social skills management, autism spectrum disorder, depression, self-esteem, anger management, and career development. Family sessions can also be incorporated into the therapeutic plan to include implementation of family rules and better communication skills.
