A native of Church Point, Louisiana Dr. Scott Meche received a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Southwestern Louisiana (currently the University of Louisiana at Lafayette). Following this, Dr. Meche continued his studies at Louisiana Tech University earning a Master’s Degree in Counseling and a Doctorate in Counseling Psychology. He completed an internship in Arkansas where he provided assessment, diagnosis and both individual and group therapy to clients at a community mental health center and residents of an inpatient substance use treatment center. He became a licensed substance abuse counselor in the state of Arkansas. Following his graduation, he completed postdoctoral training at a long-term care facility in Hammond, Louisiana that served individuals with various ranges of intellectual and developmental disabilities, as well as, significant challenging behaviors and comorbid behavioral health conditions.
Dr. Meche has many years of experience both in administrative and clinical roles working with individuals experiencing a range of psychological dysfunction and behavioral dysregulation. He has worked with individuals from various stages within the human lifespan who experience anxiety, depression, adjustment disorders, significant behavioral challenges, intellectual and developmental disabilities, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia. Dr. Meche has provided consultation and training to families, teachers, and staff supporting those with significant disabilities on behavioral interventions and strategies aimed at lessening the impact of challenging behaviors and behavioral health concerns and improving well-being. Additionally, he has taught psychology courses to both undergraduate and graduate psychology, education, nursing and family studies students at a Louisiana university.
Over the years, Dr. Meche has honed his skills in behavioral health assessment, diagnosis, consultation and treatment planning and implementation in order to facilitate the process of self-discovery, empowerment, recovery and healing.
